Deadvlei is a clay pan surrounded by majestic dunes in Namib-Naukluft National Park, located directly at the foot of Big Daddy – the tallest dune in Namibia, standing at an impressive height of approximately 350 meters. This area forms part of the renowned Sossusvlei.

From the park entrance at Sesriem, Deadvlei is accessible via a well-maintained road stretching about 65 kilometers. The journey itself is remarkable, with stunning dunes, such as the famous Dune 45, rising on both sides of the road.

The final stretch, however, can only be traversed on foot, by experienced off-road drivers with suitable vehicles, or with the help of commercial jeep services.
